Cane Bayou from Fontainebleau State Park

Cane Bayou is a waterway that flows into Lake Pontchartrain from the north shore. Located between Mandeville and Lacombe, Cane Bayou is the boundary between two public lands – Fontainebleau State Park to the west and Big Branch Marsh National Wildlife Refuge to the east. Most paddles spot herons, egrets, alligators (warmer months) and often the resident ospreys, with a nest right over the bayou.
