Some adventures are only a few times a year (Bogue Chitto paddle, family-friendly campout) & some are recurring every month or week (UA paddle club, Kayaking 101, Fishing 101, Wilderness Wanders….). We plan to add more adventures throughout the year.

Join us for a relaxing and captivating butterfly hike at the Abita Creek Flatwoods Preserve in Abita Springs, LA! This enchanting experience, led by a certified Louisiana Master Naturalist, offers you the chance to immerse yourself in nature and witness the beauty of Louisiana’s vibrant wildlife. As you wander through the historic and endangered habitat of a longleaf pine savannah, you'll have the opportunity to spot some of the estimated 150 species of butterflies that call Louisiana home. From the delicate flutter of wings to the vibrant flashes of color, it’s a scene that’s sure to leave you flutterly amazed!
But butterflies aren’t the only stars of the show. The preserve is also a haven for birdwatchers, reptile enthusiasts, and nature nerds at large. Keep your eyes and ears open, and you might catch sight of a colorful migrating warbler, a darting skink, or the carnivorous Pitcher Plant. While nature follows its own rhythm and we can’t guarantee any specific sightings, the joy of discovery makes every moment on the trail special! And we promise that you'll learn something new about the natural world around you!
